In the Field

I've been spending my time under mossy trees watching young cowboys and cowgirls compete in rodeos, being invited onto horses, sharing food with members of the Seminole Tribe, and sitting inches from bulls in the chutes. When I meet people with my camera, I want to immerse myself in their lives as much as they'll let me. When I meet kids with curiosity in their eyes, I hand them my camera. I bring a little green notebook for people to write in, so I remember everyone I meet. Everything I document is with care — from the laborious, handmade nature of the darkroom process to the relationships I build with people. The goal is that the photographs I make become a window to their life.
